ABOUT THE FOUNDER
A JOURNEY THAT SHAPED ARTÉVO
Hi, I’m Sarah, the founder of Artévo.
A MULTICULTURAL BEGINNING
I was born in Toronto, Canada, into a biracial and deeply international family: my father is Hungarian and my mother is Jamaican. From the very beginning, movement, culture, and curiosity were built into my life. I was traveling before I could even form memories, and growing up, home was never just one place. My childhood was shaped by time spent between Canada, Costa Rica, Hungary, Jamaica, and later France and the UK.
LEARNING THROUGH CULTURE
Because of my parents’ love of travel, language, and exploration, I grew up experiencing the world through constant change. I attended school in different countries, adapted to new languages, and learned early on how culture shapes the way we see things. Spanish and French became part of my life through that journey, but more than anything, those experiences taught me how to move between worlds and how to find connection across them.
art as a constant
Art was always present too. It was part of my upbringing through family, travel, and the places I lived. Over time, it became one of the strongest through-lines in my life, even before I knew I wanted to work in the field professionally.
academic path & personal growth
After high school, I took a gap year that was meant to take me from Spain to China, but like so many people’s plans, mine shifted with the arrival of the pandemic. Soon after, I began my undergraduate studies at the American University of Paris, where I studied History, Law, and Society and minored in Psychology. My time there shaped me profoundly. It deepened my understanding of people, culture, and identity, and it was also where I built some of the most important relationships in my life.
steps into the art world
After graduating, I stepped into the art world professionally by working at a gallery, where I got my first real look at the realities of the industry. It was an important experience, both inspiring and humbling. Later, I organized an exhibition of my own, which taught me even more about what I loved, and what I did not want to pursue long-term. That process ultimately led me to continue my studies with a master’s in Art and Cultural Management in Rome.

Today, I am based in New York, where I continue building Artévo.
THE REASON ARTÉVO EXISTS
Artévo was born out of everything that shaped me: a life lived across cultures, a deep personal connection to art, and a desire to make the art world feel more open, current, and accessible. I created it for people who are curious, visually engaged, and culturally aware, but who may not always feel that traditional art spaces were built with them in mind.
